This event is free and open to the public!
On Monday, November 18th at 6:30 PM, we will hold an in person club meeting, with student speakers from Team Jamaica of UT's Projects with Underserved Communities (PUC) program.
The PUC combines rigorous coursework with hands-on, practical experience. Engineering and Social Work students participate in a year-long course while researching and designing projects in response to community needs. They collaborate with a local partner and travel to the community to implement a community based service project during the summer following the completion of the academic course.
The mission of Team Jamaica is to transform a kitchen into a classroom and retrofit an e-learning space at Mount Hermon Primary and Infant School in Riversdale, Jamaica. The project will help reduce overcrowding and meet educational standards set by the Early Childhood Commission in Jamaica. 📚The students will be on-site in May 2025 to bring this project to life. The local partners in this project are the United Way of Jamaica and the Rotary Club of St. Catherine in Jamaica.
Our meeting will be held at Shoal Creek Saloon, located at 909 N. Lamar Blvd. This will be a very interesting program, we encourage you to invite family, friends, and colleagues to join us.
