On Monday, May 1st at 6:30 PM, we will hold an in person club meeting. Our speaker will be Dr. Stephen Enniss, the Director at the Harry Ransom Center.

About Dr. Enniss,
Dr. Stephen Enniss has been Director of the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin for ten years. He has held previous appointments at the Folger Shakespeare Library and at Emory University’s Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library. His research interests are in twentieth-century poetry, and he has written on Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath, and Seamus Heaney, among other figures. He co-curated the award-winning Grolier Club exhibition “No Other Appetite”: Sylvia Plath, Ted Hughes, and the Blood Jet of Poetry. He is a past recipient of a Leverhulme Fellowship from the University of London, and he is the author of After the Titanic: A Life of Derek Mahon (Gill and Macmillan, 2014). He is currently at work on a collective biography of the Belfast Group poets.

About Erich Pelletier,
Erich Pelletier is the Communication and Marketing Manager for the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce. He is a seasoned strategist, manager, writer, and media designer with 15+ years' professional experience in communications, marketing, and digital media production. Erich can do all sorts of things, but he has pride himself most on collaborating with colleagues and clients to create beautiful digital media experiences with impactful results.

On Monday, May 15th at 6:30 PM, we will hold an in person club meeting. Our speaker will be Suresh Pahwa who partnered with a Rotary Club in Togo, Africa.

About Suresh Pahwa,
Suresh Pahwa will give a slideshow presentation about his 2012 trip to Togo, Africa. Under his leadership, our club partnered with a Rotary club in Togo to sponsor a Rotary International grant to purchase 10,000 mosquito nets for orphanages and refugee camps in that country. Suresh will tell us how he developed the project and about the good that it accomplished, illustrated with photos from his trip to deliver the mosquito nets to Togo.
Suresh is a former member and president of our club and a PDG of District 5870. He is the former CEO of Intera, Inc., an international environmental and water resource consulting firm that was founded by the late Ron Lantz—also a president and long-time member of our club. Suresh joined Ron's firm soon after he earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Florida in 1974. ![]() About Rotary Club of Austin University Area:

All club members are invited to attend the Early Act First Knight (EAFK) Knighting Ceremony at Pecan Springs Elementary.
Our club is a co-sponsor of EAFK. The knighting ceremony is the reward component of the EAFK program. Attended by all students (not just awardees), faculty, Rotarian advisors, special guests and parents of student awardees, this 40-minute presentation honors select students who excel in EAFK academics and service, while encouraging all students to participate in the EAFK service club.
The event starts at 8:30 AM, but please arrive at 8 AM to pick up your badge from the front desk.

On Monday, May 22nd at 6:30PM, we will hold an in person club meeting. Our speaker will be Thomas Ratliff, former member of the State Board of Education, who will give an update on the 88th Legislative Session.
Our meeting will be held at Shoal Creek Saloon, located at 909 N. Lamar Blvd. We encourage you to invite family, friends, and colleagues to join us.
About Thomas Ratliff,
In 2010, Thomas was elected to the 15-member State Board of Education and represented 31 counties and 1.6 million Texans. He was re-elected in 2012 to a term that ended in 2016. He was elected by his colleagues to serve as Vice Chairman for two terms. He did not seek re-election to the board for a third term.
Thomas received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and a Masters in Public Affairs from the LBJ School at UT Austin.
